Working here

“It’s fast-paced, vibrant and fascinating.”

Sometimes the opportunity comes along to be a part of something really special. At NHS Test and Trace you’ll be working with a highly motivated and passionate group of people who have come together from across the country to work on one central cause in an organisation created to address a national emergency.

We’ve all been affected by COVID-19. This is your opportunity to help and make a difference. Your work will be helping people to return towards and maintain a more normal way of life. In years to come, you’ll be able to tell your friends and family proudly that you stepped up and played your part in protecting the nation.

We started from scratch to build our testing capacity at scale, a contact tracing system of a size never before imagined and boosted our intelligence and analytical capability. We aim to be transparent and encourage engaging leadership. You’ll be working in an exciting and fast-paced environment with the opportunity to make a real difference and to enable and implement government policy.

Our work is to become part of the National Institute of Health Protection (NIHP) which has a long-term focus on protecting people from external threats to our country’s health such as other pandemics, biological weapons and infectious diseases of all kinds. You’ll be part of the future, making our country a safer place.

A diverse and dedicated team

At NHS Test and Trace, you’ll be working and learning from a passionate, motivated and truly diverse team. People from a huge range of professional backgrounds and experiences have been brought together to focus on fighting Covid-19 – joining us is a rare opportunity to work alongside all sorts of talented individuals in a blended environment.

As we’re a new and dynamic organisation, working with us is like being part of a start-up.

We work with agility and speed, and we encourage everyone to have a voice. Curiosity and innovation are paramount, and you’ll have opportunities to influence and shape our future direction.

What’s more, working as part of the Civil Service means there’s scope to work across other Civil Service departments, too.

“I have been here a couple of weeks and I can already see how what I’m doing is making a massive difference. This is a once in a lifetime call to action, so I’m pleased to be playing my part.”

Breaking chains of transmission

Whatever your role, your work will help to break chains of COVID-19 transmission, save lives and enable the UK to return towards a more normal way of life.

Joining us means working for the greater good and making a positive impact across the country.

Beyond Covid-19

We’ll still be here when COVID-19 is no longer a threat to the UK. NHS Test and Trace will eventually become part of the National Institute of Health Protection (NIHP), which focuses on protecting people from external threats to the UK’s health, such as other pandemics, biological weapons, and infectious diseases of all kinds.

“The mix of skills and people on the programme is brilliant to see and is driving a rich set of approaches.”
